Evony Quick Reference Guide for Beginners and Everyone!

You may control up to 9 cities max, and that number depends on your Title.

Title also depends on Rank, and both promotions require medals and gold.

Knight controls 2 cities

Baronet controls 3 cities

Baron contols 4 cities

Viscount controls 5 cities.

Your city upgrades on the world map at Level 4 – looks more like a walled city.

At Level 7 looks more like a castle; at level 10 looks like a big castle or keep.

City level depends on Town Hall level and not walls, but walls are required to upgrade your Town Hall.

Each level of Town Hall allows you to control one additional valley; so a level 4 Town Hall can control 4 Valleys.

Every Valley or Flat in the game will be occupied by a barbarian army unless player controlled.

Controlling a valley does NOT require you to camp troops at the location.

Camped troops will consume Food at an increased rate!

When troops march they will take some food from your stores, but otherwise do not consume food while marching.

The Optimal Tax rate for gold income will be 50%, this will cause your Loyalty to stabilize at 50 and your population at 50% of max.

When players attack player cities it causes the Loyalty to go down and Grievance to increase.

Reducing a city’s Loyalty rating to Zero will allow you to take control of the city, if your Title permits you to control another city.

Therefore if your city is being attacked you may want to reduce the tax rate, so that Loyalty will be upward.

You can also use Comforting in your Town Hall to increase Loyalty and reduce Grievance.

A player on the forum has compiled a Guide to collecting medals here http://bbs.civony.com/showthread.php?t=1854

Basicly you need to attack valleys and NOT control them to get medals.

Medal Type             Valley

Courage                  Deserts

Cross                      Lakes

Freedom                 Swamps

Honor                      Grasslands

Justice                    Hills

Lion                        Grasslands

Nation                     Swamps

Rose                       Lakes

Wisdom                  Swamps

Medals are random drops and the drop rate has been reduced recently, its far less than 100%

Medals can also be purchased from the Shop for coins, the company is trying to encourage people to spend money  on promotions apparently.

Heros must be recruited to lead your armies into battle, also a Hero may be appointed as Castellan/Mayor of your cities. There is a guide on the game forum here: http://bbs.civony.com/showthread.php?t=1202The guide is reproduced here.

First off in order to recruit a hero you must have an Inn and a Feasting Hall.

Inn: You recruit the hero here. The number of heros displayed depends on the level of the Inn. The higher level Inn, the more heros you can recruit at one time.

Feasting Hall: Here is where your heros live. The number of heros you can own depends on the level of the Feasting Hall. The higher level Hall, the more heros you can command.

Castellan:

Heros have five stats. As far as I have learned, the first three are only useful when the hero has been appointed Castellan (as far as I’ve seen) Politics, Attack, Intellengence, Loyalty and Salary

Politics: When a Castellan is appointed his Politics add to the bonus you get in resources, the higher the politics the more resources you gather. Politics also decrease building time.

Attack: When a Castellan is appointed his Attack lowers the time it takes to train troops. The higher Attack the less time it takes. In addition I believe (but have no proof) that the Castellan adds to the defense of your city when it is under attack and that the Hero’s attack increases the troop strength when marching.

Intelligence: When a Castellan is appointed his Intellegence lowers the time it takes to research technology. I also have heard that appointing a hero to a scouting march increases the amount of information gathered, depending on the rate of intellegence. Though I have no proof, I have heard others say this is true.

Loyalty: Each Hero has their own loyalty. The lower the loyalty, the higher chance of him being captured and persuaded by an enemy upon defeat. It also may affect when a city ‘riots’, when the city’s loyalty becomes low.

Salary: This is the simplist of the stats. In order to have a hero you must pay him. He is payed hourly (off the top of your income) as the price is stable, 20 gold multiplied by the level of the hero. So a level 1 costs 20 gold an hour, while a level 13 costs 260 gold.

Leveling up The last note I can think of is leveling. When your hero gains enough experience to level up you may do so by going to the Feasting Hall and viewing your hero. Every level gained allows you to add one bonus to any of the three stats. So when my level 5 reached level 6, I may add one bonus to his Politics, Attack, or Intellengence.

In the Feasting Hall there is an option called Appoint Castellan. This will let you choose one of your heros to lead the town your hall is built in. Castellans cannot be sent on an attack, but his stats lends benefits to your city.

Resource Development (is critical to play this game!)

Map of State Locations Server 3

Each unit has a range that they may attack from. For quick reference, it is

Workers: 10

Warriors: 20

Swordsmen: 30

Pikemen: 50

Cataphract: 80

Cavalry: 100

Battering Ram: 600

Archers: 1200

Archer’s Tower: 1300

Ballista: 1400

Catapult: 1500

1. We know that battle start at maximum firing range.

If there are archers in a battle, all troops start at 1200 range, if there are catapults in a battle, all troops start at 1500 range, if there are only warriors, all troops start at 20 range, etc.

2. We also know that on round one, from that range, any units that can attack will attack, and all other units will advance by their speed.

3. Archery technology raises the range of your archers by 5% per level.

The complete guide to Explain the importance of Range in Battles is here http://bbs.civony.com/showthread.php?t=2226

Troop Speed is also important to the Range equation, faster troops will advance faster in battle.

Scouts: 3000

Cavalry:1000

Cataphract: 750

Pikeman: 300

Swordsman: 275

Archers: 250

Warriors: 200

Workers: 180

Transporter: 150

Battering Ram: 120

Ballista: 100

Catapult: 80

If you have 1 Archer in your army, the entire army will begin the battle at the archer’s max range.

If your opponent has archers its important to outrange them in the first round, so that you will get first strike.

THe map is wrong for world 14

  • admin says:

Do you mean server 14? There is no World 14 yet.

  • Ben says:

the map isn’t correct for server 23. I’m in north march and my coordinates are 325,5.

Also, the guests say that metals can only be gained by conquering valleys, not attacking them.

Also I got a Cross from a Forrest and a Rose from some Hills. Had to conquer both valleys to get the metals.

  • makisupa666 says:

You may receive any medal that is available for the appropriate level of valley, the list above states the medals that have the best chance to drop, i.e rose medals are very easy to get while conquering a lake than any other wally. I have noticed, Rose medals are the easiest medal to obtain, assuming you conquer a lake. I have received medals after attacking NPC cities and not taking said city, I have not noticed any medals from valleys I did not take.

  • Dragowolf says:

Most of my medals came from flats and valleys that I did NOT take. I simply attacked while already controlling my maximum.

  • Kiarajane says:

I too have gained many medals from flats and valleys without conquering – but for me my main source of medal income has been NPC’s lvl 1-3. I have had a very high success rate delivering honor, courage and lion medals.

  • noclvrname says:

    how would someone gain honor

  • budhoe says:

Honor is gained by beating other players in an attack. Regardless if you are the attacker or the one attacked.

  • The Myth says:

Remember one thing, if you remember anything about Evony. It’s based on a “pyramid” scheme of sorts. Their main intersts are to make money of you. As a “pyramid”, the game is based on “first come” first served on average. If your the first person(s) into the games, and remain so, you will have a distinct advantage over the rest of the field. They control the software program(s), so your battles are technically a controlled arena. The “top feeders” prey on the “bottom” feeders and so forth. The best way for Evony to make money is to add “obstacles” to your “character”, at times “wipeing” out your army for no apparent reason in the hopes of you “buying” back into the game. In other words, you get pissed off and fork over money to speed up replacing your army…etc. NEVER spend money on Evony, they track your “server” time with “cookies” and “spyware” programs. Just play the game knowing it’s built to defeat you in the end, and then try to get you to spend. I play only as a “casual” participant, with no REAL expectations of anything. You should do the same.

  • robojocks says:
